Review: This film was the typical Negro film with flesh, but the most memorable scene was the ultimate cat fight between Diamond & Ronnie.

The movie follows the lives of Diana Armstrong (LisaRaye McCoy) who is trying to make ends meet while being a single mother and a college student. At her job working in a shoe store Armstrong meets Ronnie (Chrystale Wilson) and Tricks (Adele Givens), two shady strippers who are also bisexuals, who talk Armstrong into stripping for Dolla Bill (Bernie Mac) at The Players Club. Their saying of the moment is “use what you got to get what you want.” Taking this motto into consideration, Armstrong makes the move towards booty shaking for dollars and is crowned “Diamond” by Dollar Bill.

Four years after becoming the club favorite, Diamond’s cousin, Ebony (Monica Calhoun) moves in with her and needs a job also. Under the corrupt influence of Tricks & Ronnie, Ebony gets out of control and begins to doing “side jobs” despite Diamond’s objections. After being brutally beaten and raped by Ronnie’s brother, Junior (Samuel Monroe Jr.), Diamond sets out for revenge. Two strippers (Diamond & Ronnie) entered a fight in the dressing room, but only Diamond walks away leaving Ronnie a bloody pile on the floor. Not only was that Diamond’s final “F.U.” to Ronnie but her resignation notice to Dolla Bill. Later Armstrong, formerly known as Diamond, is now a news anchor, dating Blue (Jamie Foxx) and has set Ebony up with a job at the shoe store she herself started out in. Her parting words of advise to her cousin once again were: “Make the money, don’t let it make you.8 blades and a B for a film that has been deemed a top Negro Ghetto Classic.
