Where Are The Hip Hop/Rap Legends?

Amazing how Blacks are so upset that hip hop is being pimped by the White machine – Benzino – yet where are the legends of Hip Hop/Rap to take lead? Why have they not come together to become the strong influences in the game? Are they even still considered powerful influences? Very few Hip Hop/Rap entertainers have a stake or controlling stake in the industry that they heavily promote. It’s well known that they rent everything from homes to jewelry to cars – all to promote a life that the majority does not live or can even afford to live.

hiphopgraffitisign The performers are more than happy to sell everything they are to be a part of the machine and also quick to create “diss” singles attempting to call someone else out regarding the same issue. Folks claiming to make money that they know damn well they are nowhere near claiming on tax forms. The sad thing is that there are so many willing sheep that want to toss titles to losers in the industry. King of this and Ruler of that, but most can’t reign over their own bank accounts. LL Cool J is one of the few whose maintained himself and most should take heed.

To simply put it – the legends, the TRUE LEGENDS of Hip Hop/Rap have been pushed aside only to be mentioned in passing lyrics and interviews as if they have all died. Most are alive and kicking and living in a neighborhood near you. They have been through what most of these jokes are currently going through, but the difference is that they have survived to tell their story. The question remains, are we listening? Do we want to listen? Do the “legends” even want the title of Patriarch to a group of unruly, self-absorbed fools who believe they invented the industry that cages their minds and the minds of their listeners on a daily basis?
