Daaaaaaaaa-aaaaang. So Robert “R.” Kelly walks away from peeing on a child, only to lose the cat fight against Shaffer “Ne-Yo” Smith. Seems that R. Kelly was talking real grimy over the tour disagreement that he had with Ne-Yo. How soon he forgot that he was in a similar situation with Jay-Z not too long ago. Or was this a way to take his frustrations out on someone else? Well, to be accurate, the concert promoter must pay for R. Kelly’s alleged self-absorption. According to rumors, R. Kelly was upset that the newcomer was upstaging him and had the kid thrown off the tour after two shows.
Seems that Ne-Yo was laying it down so well that the audiences were demanding encores from him and not the headliner, R. Kelly. Maybe if Kelly was doing better as a headliner, he too would be requested to give encores. Until then, step up your game kiddy. Ne-Yo probably sued the best source, the promoter, Georgia-based Rowe Entertainment Inc.
In a tacky move, the promoter never answered the lawsuit and Judge Malcolm Mackey of the Los Angeles Superior Court awarded the R&B singer with $700, 320. As a poor excuse, the promoter claimed that they were unable to have Ne-Yo’s agent send them a “final, fully executed contract.” Umm, shouldn’t you have a copy of that for your own files? I sense a bullshit excuse about to be created as to why the promoter will be unable to pay the judgment. Maybe the IRS should look into how they handle their finances. They don’t seem to keep copies of anything. Maybe they are filing their taxes from memory. I wonder how many successful companies are running simply on memory and no paper trail.
This still fails to explain why Rowe Entertainment Inc. simply did not respond the the summons and show up to defend themselves; or feed that crap line to the judge. Embarrassed by the money operation they are running? Most likely. Hey, as long as Ne-Yo gets paid.
Code Blue that shit Kelly.
History on Kelly’s suit against Carter:
On November 1st, 2004, R. Kelly sued Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter for breach of contract when he alleged that he was bounced off the Best of Both Worlds Tour. He wanted $75 million because he truly believed that Jay-Z’s “spite and jealousy” lead him to bounce R. Kelly off the tour. Poor Robert, he truly believed that Shawn was upset because Kelly was allegedly the higher paid artist on the tour. In order to get revenge Shawn supposedly threatened, sabotaged, and had flunkies attempt violence against Robert. Was Robbie drinking too?
Island Def Jam Records sited Robert’s “lack of professionalism and unpredictable behavior,” for the collapse of the tour. According to reports, Kelly disappointed paid fans and caused the tour to be changed to the Jay-Z and Friends Tour. Shawn responded with his own breach of contract suit. Carter’s suit was tossed then Kelly’s lawyers filed an overlapping suit in November 2005, almost one year later.
