High Expectations

When there were drummers they were expected to drum. When there were singers, they were expected to sing. Rappers were expected to rap and dancers were expected to dance. Soon sacrifices were made so that the mediocre could survive. Now models aspire to act and actors aspire to sing. No longer do folks within a particular aspect in the entertainment industry focus and perfect the art in which they claim to love. Piss poor contenders are held on pedestals and crowned “gifted” while they continue to perpetrate a fraud on the industry. Rappers showcase a half-asses singing ability while they fail to live up to the fundamental expectations of rhyming. Singers are no longer graded on their actual singing talents but are able to fluff up their portfolios with choreographed steps and over-the-budget videos. Are we living with high expectations now for an industry that uses talented artists as doorstops for no talent individuals? With the constant creation of new genres it’s no wonder why the entertainment industry is flooded with subpar talent.

Expecting a three ring circus has resulted into an industry that produces so much garbage – the evidence lies in the fact that less than one-fourth of the existing artists actually put on a concert or orchestrates an actual tour. While everyone is so busy attempting to be he next All-Star, the public must suffer as Akon attempts to add singer to his rap resume, and Soulja Boy attempts to create a resume.
