At the tender age of 61, Supermodel Naomi Sims lost her battle with cancer. After appearing on the magazine cover of Ladies Home Journal in 1968, Ms. Sims was dubbed the first Black Supermodel. She worked with multiple designers all over the world and graced the covers of both LIFE and New York Time’s fashion magazines. TBC recognizes the ground work that Ms. Sims has laid for many of the women currently in the business as well as for the future prospects.
