Chris Brown (19), R&B sensation, turned himself into the Los Angeles police after a report was filed for domestic abuse. Allegedly Brown attacked his girlfriend, Rihanna – R&B/Pop sensation, the night of the Grammy Awards and hence neither was able to perform or attend the show. The allegations state that Brown punched and bite Rihanna. One week later Brown has released his public statement:
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”
“Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else.”
As usual, the New York Post attempts to make the issue about them and fellow “media” as they claim Brown bashed them. There was obviously no bashing simply a clear statement that the media got things wrong. Not the first time they have nor will it be the last.
Like most Negros, Brown has turned towards invoking religion to assist in showing how remorseful he truly is. Will this keep him in the hearts and minds of the Negros? Why not? It worked for R. Kelly. Reports state that Rihanna’s father claims the couple has broken up. Time will tell if the wounds will heal between the couple and between Chris Brown and the public.
