Bam-Bam’s Rally

This was when the candidate was officially backed by Oprah Winfrey in the In Hy-Yee Hall (Iowa Events Center) located in Iowa. Things opened with Michelle Obama and her dry jokes. She began with the “we’re the ‘leadership we haven’t seen in a long, long time.’” Obama is supposed to be the fundamental change that the country needs. I can’t get on board with this new wave of bullshyt simply because it smells strange – George Bush strange. When that dude was running I got the same feeling that I am getting today.

Once introduced as the “first woman of television” and having Aretha Franklin’s Think play in the background, Ms. Winfrey graced the stage. She carried on as if she was performing on one of her shows. She’s doing her “I’m just a simple girl” routine in the mist of a political campaign. She claims she understands the critical moment in our nation but continues to downplay her influence – no matter what some may think about it – on the way people behave or view this candidate.

She goes in and out of her polished speech to the “country bama” speech. As she tells the crowd that she is believes in America this is a major reason why she is there. She states that this is not about partisanship but about her personal believes. I personally believe differently than she does so why do “fans” feel the need to look down on anyone NOT on the Bam-Bam trolly? She has a personal conviction and everyone else has his/her own. The majority of the crown is White America but let’s not focus on that today.obamaoprahrally2

She’s claiming that because there can only be one choice, she came out into the cold to tell everyone why she felt Bam-Bam should be that one. She thinks he will bring statesmanship to the White House; that he will lead with strength and conviction; honor and compassion; and with an unyielding focus on what we all can do together to make this nation the future that we all deserve. Oprah is trying to say that we are to stand by his side and help him do all these things. Really?

In supporting Bam-Bam, Oprah states that we are supposed to dream America anew. Oprah says that she is tired of politicians and that’s why they are rarely on her show. She keeps stressing how we NEEED Bam-Bam. She’s tired of politics as usual and she only has an hour. Yet she has a radio show, a cable network, and Oprah: After the Show. Yeah – she only has an hour. Funny how others can cut through some of the BS in politics to get the candidates to dance for fifteen minutes, but Oprah doesn’t have time. Maybe she can show me how to preserve fruits again or have Dr. Oz talk to me about orgasms. We all have time for that!!!

She is trying to claim that she has learned that it is hard to penetrate the political veil in an hour. Ummm, you don’t tape for an hour, you tape for longer. She says that Bam-Bam has a tongue dipped in unvarnished truth. (LOL) Also he has an ear for eloquence.. (Sweet Lord) She says that the time in Washington is nothing unless you can account for the time you’ve had, however, Bam-Bam has been a senator who does not vote in the meetings senators are supposed to vote in. Sooooo, has he used his time wisely? Seems like the same BS to me. I challenge you to think about that Oprah – since you’re issuing challenges. She’s from Chicago backing her Chicago senator who does not work. She spoke on the things that he supposedly backed while in office but then loses me as she brings up Iraq. The majority of this nation backed Iraq while very few spoke out openly against the BS. So him “standing up” does not impress me as most of those who cheer now were behind Bush’s invasion.

Bam-Bam is supposed to be the bridge between religions? How when religion is a powerful and hateful engine? I would love to see this happen. Oprah says that none of us is God and we must respond to the pressures and fortunes of history when the moment strikes. Isn’t that what we do already? Then she rattled on about some movie she saw and Cicely Tyson’s character asking “Are you the one?” I ask the one for what? What exactly was this woman asking in the movie? Anyway, she finally wraps up with that and introduces Bam-Bam to the crowd of 300.

As soon as he comes out, the old people forget the broken hips and begin to climb over each other to take pictures of this man. The flashes were not going this wild when Oprah was speaking. Next he goes into why him and his wife love Oprah…. He says how most are disappointed when hey meet someone from television, but not Oprah. The Oprah love went on for a while but could has stopped sooner. He claims how she stepped out of her comfort zone and then asked for a round of applause and chanted “We love Oprah.” For the second time someone in the crowd yells “I love you” and he says “I love you too.” Ooookaaay.

obamaoprahrally11He states how Iowa know what’s fake and someone shouted out. Whatever they said, Bam-Bam said “…there you go, I wouldn’t have quite put it that way…” He also spoke on how it was kind of embarrassing to have Dick Chaney as his cousin. He said when they do the genealogies, one would hope to be related to Dr. King, Alexander the Great, or Oprah but not Dick Chaney. He joked about he was not going to the family hunting party. Back to the caucus that will be happening January 03; he said these people would need to ask themselves, what is next for America.

I’m still waiting to hear what he will bring to the table besides him recapping what the current president has failed to do. Since I’ve lived that I pretty much have been caught up to speed. He saying how America is listening to what the candidates have to say, but I have not heard one damn thing out of Bam-Bam’s mouth. Simply that we have an opportunity to come together and tackle the problems that could have been made worse through Bush’s Administration but have festered for decades now. How about saying that these problems were in existence long before the first Bush took office. How about stating that the issues America face were in progress long before Reagan got busy. Why do that when you can have them focused on the last two families that were in office.

Finally he begins to state what he will do once in office. In the mist of the rally, a fan passes out and Bam-Bam takes a few seconds to make sure that the paramedics can get to them. Awww. He goes into how the lobbyist won’t have a prayer when he’s president. They will not be in his White House or in his cabinet. He’s getting ready to raise the minimum wage every year – WTF?!! With what money and will this effect me in a bad way???? It better not! He spoke on how his mom died of cancer at 53 and that she was reading her insurance forms to see how the medical bills would get paid. He said that by the end of his first term he will make sure everyone has the ability to get health care. The health care will even be as good as the health care he currently has as a senator. He then delved into the education problems. H speaks o investing in early child education and paying more money & support to teachers. How college will be affordable to every family – yet not everyone want to go to college. He then said that, as a people, America is not about torture? Really, that’s not what our history says. We were founded on death and torture so how has that changed? He said that he doesn’t want to pit Red American against Blue America but be the president of the United States of America. Can’t wait! He said he’s not running because it’s somehow “owed to him.” A clear stab at Hilary Clinton.

He pulls out Dr. King’s name once more to quote “the fierce urgency of now” and how he believes of such a thing as being too late and that moment is upon us. He told Iowa that he needed them to stand up and stop settling for what cynics say is possible. That would conclude the rally as Oprah & the Obama’s hit the crowd and shake hands.
