Seems that the amNY newspaper was able to tell a small story on Chelsea Clinton while searching for signs of her future in politics. From the moment Chelsea’s family stepped foot into the White House, she kept a low profile and kept out of trouble. Now grown, she seems to have become a responsible person and one of her mother’s strongest supporters. The article stated that if she were to follow her parents’ footsteps into politics, it would be a tradition. The political dynasties go past the Kennedys and back to the Adams. President John Quincy Adams (1825 – 1829) succeeded his father John Adams (1797 – 1800).
While on the campaign tour of colleges, Chelsea was hit with a question from a smatass regarding her father’s infidelity. She simply told him that it was no one’s business and the audience applauded her response. She’s turned out to make something of her life so far. Matthew Sweeney also pointed out in his article, four fellow First Daughters who made names for themselves beyond the Oval Office. Gerald Ford’s offspring Susan Ford, needed Secret Service to protect her once she was placed on the “Best Kidnappable List” by the Symbionese Liberation Army. Even had her prom at the White House.
Alice Roosevelt, daughter to President Theodore Roosevelt, was known for being a smoking, gambling, unladylike teen that had a pet snake. After leaving the White House she married an Ohio Congressman but bore the child of a senator whom she had an affair with. Soon Ford worked as a photojournalist and novelist and she currently chairs the Betty Ford Center. Caroline Kennedy, seed of John F. Kennedy, was always in pictures. Not much was told about her in the article but then again the Kennedy children usually are protected. There are talks of her possibly having a job in Bam-Bam’s White House should he win – would not be a shocker.
Another daughter touched on was the gully former President’s child, Amy Carter. Amy got in trouble for reading at a state dinner and is known for telling her pops at the tender age of 13, that it was extremely important to control nuclear weapons. During college, she arrested for her part in protests. Later in life she began to illustrate children books written by her Pappy: Jimmy Carter.
