when you hear of Historical Negro Organizations what is the first thing that comes to mind? is it the excitement of the marching bands? the richness of the Negro culture? the deep rooted traditions? the intrigue of learning from people with similar backgrounds in history? or can it be the fact that you would be in an environment created for you by your own people? how many know that multiple institutions depend on that thirst to be around the like? how many know that multiple institutions took years, sometimes decades, before they had presidents that represented the constituents. let us by-pass the president for a second. how many realize that the founders of these “Historically Negro” schools were indeed non-Negro ? white? so in fact what is so historically Negro about them? the fact that Negros attended school there?

if that’s the case, is that why the masses got into an uproar when a White student not only attended Morehouse, but graduated Valedictorian and gave the speech? out of all the folks at Morehouse Joshua Packwood should have felt more comfortable than the Negros. the school was established by a White man, William Jefferson White. yes the school was established to teach Negro men in the field of ministry and teaching, however, no Negro is credited to being the founder. in fact, Morehouse was founded in 1867 but waited until 1906 before they deemed it worthy to have a Black president. white people funded this school and one of the major contributors in the early stages was John D. Rockefeller who also helped to fund many other Negro institutions founded by Whites. so why the hypocrisy now? why the tears that a White boy came so far at a Negro school? confusion like what was being experienced and mistaken for discussions during this time only happens when Negros do not know their history or the history of what they hold dear and why they hold on to these tainted items. according to the founding history of most institutions, Packwood would fit snug as a bug in a rug.
what about the NAACP, the rubber stamp organization that shit is. Why so many inconsistent founding stories? why is Mary White Ovington dubbed as the founder of the organization for Colored Folks? why are the history of other Black institutes not told and the story of why Ovington went to W.E.B. Du Bois and recruited him to join her organization? why no one speaks on the fact that W.E.B. Du Bois was not a respected man in his community because he was a turn-coat every chance he got? Poor fool lived his last days in Africa and in disgrace. why do Negros throw away what they have to join with the dream of White folks and of what should be?

once again another show of how Negros are drafted into organizations by those who fail to understand them. how can White people teach Blacks about Black pride and their true history? are many who leave these Black institutions more confused than normal or Ill-equipped to deal with reality? time and time again Negros seek the love, satisfaction, and approval of the White Smile. wonder what these institutions are teaching the current Negros of the future. maybe there should be a Tour of the Negro Circuit.
