Bottom-line: Storyline sucked (as usual), but the 3D graphics combined with the dance moves were great.

Review: Setting aside that the screening for this film was highly irritating with many corny stunts the movie was half decent. Step Up: 3D made a return to the big screen with little fan fare for those who are not into watching street dancers perform. Some of the dance steps were the same that could be scene anywhere, but there were a few moves that stood out worth 3D recognition. Also worthy of 3D filming were some technical gimmicks that would have simply fallen flat if done in 2D. A few cast members from 2009′s film, Fame.

One corny part that stood out for me were the two dance nerds that took a musical trip down memory lane to reconcile. I could have done without that and it felt as though it brought the film down when it started to pick up speed. Another part that seemed lack luster was when the lead female returned to “help” the team do a dance routine. She could have remained on the sideline. I’ve seen more booty poppin’ from Ellen DeGeneres.

Either way the film was good for dancers and those who love to watch street dancers. Some folks from SYTYCD were also in the film and they did a great job. 6.5 blades and a C+ for this film.
