Review: From the first second the music stared and her voice kicked in this X Factor winner proved once again why she deserved it. Her voice strongly challenges all currently on the market including Mariah Carey and Beyoncé. It’s a good thing one went on hiatus and the other dropped her album early. Sales of Spirit would have seriously effected those two. Spirit is the perfect title for this woman with so much spunk and talent.

This album starts and ends on a strong note. A few songs a reminiscent of the early Carey with the extremely powerful voice but Lewis is far from an imitation artist. Her songs have stories, are very visual and strike a cord. This is truly the album to play out throughout the Summer. This will be the artist to keep an eye and ear out for.

Leona’s album includes the cover of the song Moment Like This from Kelly Clarkson. Lewis and her competitor sang this song on the final night of their performance and she walked away the winner. From the X-Factor stage to the album this song came across much stronger than the Clarkson version. Her powerful voice is nothing to sleep on as she captures the feelings of the words in this tune. I could have done without Bad Boy and believed a stronger uptempo tune could have been chosen. Despite that I doubt this will hold back this star.

Better in Time, Bleeding Love and Footprints in the Sand are also noteworthy hits to watch out for. As Bleeding Love climbs the charts it’s sure to help blaze a trail for more amazing music from her. Dip Low was not a favorite either but the club/dance version of Bleeding Love more than made up for it. Seems we are back to adding the house version of songs to the albums as Duffy did the same with her album. A cool tradition to relive since the genre of House/Dance has been revitalized for 2008.

Other songs to checkout on the Deluxe album is Here I Am and Homeless. As a whole she has brought her A+ Game for her debut and I can’t wait to hear what she has in store for her sophomore project.

10 blades for one of the best albums for 2008.
