Artist(s): Prince
Drop Date: March 29, 2009
Blades: 9
Review: Long live this powerful artist. Prince has been seen as quirky, sometimes weird, but always a magnificent artist. Very few artists have been able to bring awareness to their audience while making them get up and jam. Michael Jackson was one of the few able to accompany Prince on this very short list.
Target has been the fortunate company allowed to sell Prince’s latest 3-disc album and we snatched it up. On this project Prince introduces his latest protégée to the world with her own album leading the set. This entire album will trigger nostalgia from the days of Purple Rain and what better way to celebrate its 25th anniversary year. This album debuted at #2 on the Billborads after its March 29th release.

Starting the set off is Valente. She has been in Prince’s camp for sometime and now has her own album. She has a very smooth, sensual sound to her but reminds me of Appolonia and Sheila E. That’s nothing against her or not to shine a bad light her way – the similarities are simply close. She doesn’t wow me through this album. I can’t say that I’m disappointed as I came into this with no expectations. Hopefully there can be more excitement with the next album as this has done very little for me.

The second album is more of an awareness contribution as to what is happening around us all. No smoke and mirrors, no trivial crap about how much diamonds are in his watches or how many chicks he bags – real music has returned. Prince’s smooth tech niches resonate throughout this album and he goes from declaring what true sexiness is to waking up the masses to the trash happening in the world. In Colonized Minds Prince breaks things down to the simplest form. “The one in power makes law, in which the colonized fall…”
Crimson and Clover is a cover of the Tommy Jones & the Shondell’s song released in 1968 with a mix of Wild Thing from Chip Taylor. It speaks on love and how sexy the moment can be. Seeing a beauty from afar and bidding the right time to let her know how he feels. The rock and R&B fused version brings back true memories of jamming to the Royal Purple one in the 80s.
“…last time I checked, you were sleeping, but you can call me a dreamer too…”
Colonized Minds, Dreamer, and 4ever are only a few of the songs not to be ignored from this album.
“I was born, raised on a slave plantation, in the United States of the red, white and blue. Never knew that I was different, until Dr. King was on the balcony, lying in a bloody pool…”
GET YOUR HEAD RIGHT BITCHES!!

The last disc keeps the party going as Prince schools us on how things used to be with Old School Music. This second album seems to be the dance contribution of the set. From memory lane to fresh sounds for all mp3s, Prince proves that he still has what it takes to last in the industry. The question remains, can the industry handle him?
U’re Gonna C Me, Here, and Better With Time are more sensual songs to add to Prince’s resume that will have fans falling in love with smooth R&B once more. Even though U’re Gonna C Me is a remake of Prince’s song from his 2002 One Nite Alone album.
The proof is definitely in the product with this album set and despite not feeling much fire from Valente, this is a must have addition to the collection of music lovers everywhere. 9 blades for another rare but not surprisingly strong collection of music from one artist.
“…think they’re spraying chemicals over the city while we sleep. come on, I’m staying awake, you can call me a dreamer too.. (ahhh, I got one eye open for these devils) (wake up, wake up)…”
Keep it tight Prince!!

This pop/dance single that has what it takes to get a party started and has a professional feel that many Indie projects lack. Coming from Queens, New York, Flawless shines on this track. Ashley Judd seems to have added her happy ass to the long list of folks in denial of the monster that their precious industry (the W.O.S.) has created. Judd has taken it upon herself to reiterate the obvious while ignoring the giant wizard puppeteer behind the puppets.
espite the truth that there are no set programs, more than half of the shows are unconfirmed, the first week or more have only been previews of what MIGHT be shown, and more than half of all television viewers have yet to see anything on the OWN Network, mainstream
2010 has been another year where the WOS Celebs have stepped their game up in the category of bullshit, hot mess, and sloppiness. Yesterday, two WOS young bloods were in battled in another Internet War of Words. Twitter has become the "safe zone" to attack folks behind a computer and have the fans directly involved. Instant bullshit brought to everyone's and anyone's computer screens - whether asked for it or not.
As many gleam over the multiple of things that has been added to her list of "deeds" which deed became her turning point. ... Negating her sexuality (that has little to do with her public actions as far as I'm concerned) what is really going on with her? ... She doesn't seem to read or comprehend some of the books she pushes through her "book club" being that two frauds have been discovered. She only "confronted" one of the frauds because the other media began to question her intelligence and if she and her cohorts even fact checked their information.
